As a company, we are always looking for new projects and our customers has a wide range of needs and requirements when they’re developing new products. What we found was that many companies we met at trade shows and events around the world were struggling with where to start when it comes to hardware development. Many of the development boards in the market today are poorly supported and requires a lot of work to be done just to get them to a stage where they’re usable. Our goal with Project-X was to create a platform where we would help make things easier to get started, while offering a wide range of customization options at the same time.

Key Features

  • Standard Pico-ITX form factor
  • A choice of processors (AllWinner H2+, H3 and H5)
  • Onboard eMMC as standard
  • SPI flash for bootloader
  • EEPROM for MAC address, serial numbers, etc.
  • Gigabit Ethernet
  • 12 V power input via external or internal connector
  • Expansion header with USB 2.0 connectivity
  • 12, 5 and 3.3 V output via expansion header
  • Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with kernel 4.18 (Armbian based)
    • Build VM for OS customisation
  • Lots of optional mezzanine boards for further expansion
    • PoE module
    • Additional 10/100 Mbps Ethernet module
    • Several I/O options
    • Even more modules planned

By creating a flexible platform based on an industry standard form factor, we believe that our development boards are the first in the market that are also production ready. It’s a great platform for small production runs, pilot runs, etc. or for companies that requires a stable base board, but lots of different I/O options between different product SKUs. We will offer a standard mezzanine board with additional connectivity, as well as a PoE module add-on for the boards, with additional mezzanine boards planned for the future.

We also believe that software matters and as such, we’ve spent the time and resources need to deliver a modern Linux build based on Armbian and Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with kernel 4.18.x. We will also be providing a build VM (with documentation) for those that wants to customise the OS to their needs.
