Recent Updates

You'll be notified about news and stock updates for this project.

The inaugural issue of eatART magazine exists to bring you the latest and greatest of the growing energy aware art movement. The project was born out of editor in chief Peter Holmes’ realization that there is no public forum for works standing at the crossroads of art, technology, and education. eatART magazine completes the loop with a physical publication of international work representing this emerging genre of art.

We are showcasing photography, installation works, and new methods of design alongside interviews with international artists. The premiere issue features a conversation with Dutch sculptor Theo Jansen and exclusive film photography of his beach-walking creatures. Also featured is eatART project Titanaboa’s pilgrimage to the heart of the Canadian oil patch in Calgary, Alberta.

We’re constantly blown away by the curiosity and the optimism for the future displayed by the artists we feature—themselves mixtures of engineers, artists, photographers, and designers—and we think you will be too. We believe enough of you are inspired by the ingenuity and creativity of these artists to support this homage in print.

We’d like to bring our first edition into the world kicking and screaming. Show us we are right to have faith in the energy aware art movement, and back our project.

Manufacturing Plan

A dedicated team of volunteers has worked hard over the last year to bring this project to life. We are so close—the magazine is 90% complete, we have a reputable printer lined up, and we’re scheduled to ship in early June.

Risks & Challenges

We have only 45 days to raise the $4000 we need to cover printing costs, which may seem like a tight deadline. But eatART has previously found success with the crowd funding model: in 2011, the 50ft electromechanical serpent Titanoboa exceeded its funding goal of $10,000 with over 80 backers.

This project will only fail if not enough of you buy it—but we can beat that risk if you, we, and everyone we know spreads the word. We believe there’s a need for the eatART magazine, and we are confident that with your support, we’ll reach our goal.
