Tickets are currently available for sale.

Subsidized tickets for low-income attendees are available. If you would like to attend and feel you qualify, please email teardown@crowdsupply.com for more information.

Free tickets are available for a limited number of volunteers who work at least two 4-hour shifts. Please email teardown@crowdsupply.com if you would like to volunteer, including any schedule constraints.

A limited number of free tickets are also available for members of hackerspaces or makerspaces who want to come and represent their communities. Please email teardown@crowdsupply.com with details about your space.

A limited number of full-price tickets will be available for sale at the door. Payment must be via credit card: cash is not accepted.

Have an idea for a talk, workshop, demo, or installation? We’re looking for a broad range of topics, participants, skill levels, and formats. Submit your Teardown proposal! Accepted proposals get free ticket(s).

What to Expect

Teardown is about the practice and the art of hardware: prototyping, manufacturing, hacking, testing, creating, disassembling, experimenting, and circumventing, all while having fun. Leave the marketing glitz and talk of venture capital at the door and come prepared learn, teach, and be inspired.

Talks & Workshops

Teardown will have a few parallel, scheduled tracks of talks and hands-on workshops covering a range of hardware topics and experience levels. A small number of workshops might have material fees, but we try to make Teardown as accessible as possible. Do you have an idea for a talk or workshop? See the Teardown call for proposals.

Demos & Installations

Want to set something up or show something off? We have tables with power and Wi-Fi for demos, a hacker art exhibit area with wall space and plinths, and plenty of floor space (and several fitting rooms) for installations or displays. Your space can be attended or self-serve, and your project could be anything from an interactive sculpture to a workbench outfitted with tools to hack on a specific project. Downtime

Our line up of talks and workshop is always fantastic, but we recognize that the best part of any get together is usually the stuff that happens without a schedule. That’s why we leave plenty of room to swap stories over food and/or drink, compare notes on personal projects, and catch up with friends old and new.

Teardown doesn’t end when the talks and workshops wind down each day - every year we organize a number of fun things to do in the evening, including canapés and conversation overlooking the Willamette river at Autodesk and a hackerspace garden party at Ctrl-H.

We will also be coordinating a number of associated events in the days before and after Teardown, including a factory tour, a movie screening, and a hardware happy hour.

Venue

Teardown 2024 will be held at Lloyd Center shopping mall, a major attraction and transit hub located in the heart of Portland’s east side. We are taking over the space formerly occupied by an internationally recognized brand that shall not be named, and turning it into an immersive community hotbed of hardware hacking and electronics. The most glorious days of American mall culture have yet to pass! Teardown 2024 is where we’ll turn the upside down rightside up.

Code of Conduct

All attendees, speakers, sponsors, organizers, and volunteers at Teardown are required to agree with the following code of conduct. We will enforce this code throughout the event. We expect cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everyone.

Teardown is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone. We do not tolerate harassment of anyone, in any form, for any reason, including for reasons of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion (or lack thereof), technology choices, dietary choices, subject matter expertise, educational background, economic circumstance, family status, or employment status.

Harrassment includes offensive verbal or written comments related to any of the above reasons; deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, or recording; sustained disruption of communication and event activities; inappropriate physical contact; and unwelcome sexual attention.

Sexualized marketing material is not appropriate for Teardown.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of Teardown staff immediately.

Teardown staff will be happy to help participants contact venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event.

We expect participants to follow these rules at all Teardown-related events and venues, both online and offline. Participants violating these rules will be sanctioned at the discretion of the organizers.
