Itsy Bitsy, Teeny Weeny, Tiny Cellular Machine-y

Unfortunately, this event has been cancelled.

Chris G
Long talk

This talk will be an end-to-end discussion of building a fully featured device (HW, FW, SW) that talks over Cat M1 (LTE-M) networks. As cellular technologies continue to shrink, it’s possible to put small modems in a variety of situations and locations. This talk will be about minimizing the footprint of a cellular connected device, building modularity into a device, RF considerations for constrained areas, how to power a small device with high impulse needs, and the firmware and software involved in making it all go. The hardware used as a demo throughout this presentation is all open source.

3 things people will learn: How to build small devices with KiCad, how to use Zephyr RTOS (and open source RTOS and ecosystem) to design flexible firmware, and how to make interesting devices that interact with real world applications.
