The Mosaichord is an expressive musical keyboard instrument designed around a 28-note scale in which the frequencies of the notes are all related to each other by whole number ratios (a system known as just intonation). The Mosaichord has an integrated subtractive synthesizer.
Several Mosaichords will be set up and connected to a large strobe tuner, a simple opto-mechanical device consisting of a spinning disk with a certain pattern backlit by LEDs that are driven at audio rates by the inputs. When the audio is synchronized with the rotation of the disk, a stable pattern emerges.
