An explosion of creativity has resulted in a huge variety of open source hardware projects that can be used with vintage computers and game systems. The retrocomputing hobby has a conundrum: interest in the hobby keeps growing as old hardware keeps breaking down. Open source hardware projects that breathe new life into old computers have stepped in to help fill the gap, with new projects appearing every week.
