When Thea and Maggie started Winterbloom their goal was never to make a living off of synthesizers. Instead, they wanted to create beautiful, open source instruments and spark inspiration in others. Five years and many acclaimed releases later, they purposefully ended the project and closed up shop.

This is the story of turning homemade prototypes into beloved musical machines through radical openness and the legacy left behind.

About the Speaker

Thea Flowers (@stargirl) is a creative technologist and open source advocate. It’s her mission in life to empower creativity through hardware, software, writing, and music. She’s an OSHWA board member, PSF fellow, and engineer at Opulo.
