How can we explore weird new materials and processes in 3D printing, and how can we share our experiments for others to replicate and extend? This talk will discuss open source tools and online communities for creative fabrication! Anchored around a set of tools that I have been building, this talk will share my approach to creative control of machine toolpaths and consider the downstream implications on the design, documentation, and distribution of 3D printing workflows.
Blair is a researcher currently finishing his PhD at the University of Washington. His work tries to make authoring physical processes more like authoring code: a dynamic mode of creative inquiry for insight and expression.
