The Apricot PC is the best little computer you’ve never heard of. Made by ACT in the UK in 1983, it featured an 800x400 monochrome display, programmable soft keys, and a sleek portable design. It was designed to run DOS and WordPerfect, but it’s not a PC compatible. And it certainly wasn’t designed to play games.

We’ll go over the unusual and surprising architecture of this 8086 box, a little bit of hardware hacking, and what it takes to make a bad version of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego for a 42 year-old business machine. In ten days. In Pascal. With owls.
