Tiny Tapeout

Workshop
Time
July 26, 2026 11:00 AM - 3:50 PM
Location

TBD

In this workshop you will create a design and send it to be manufactured on an open source ASIC!

You will learn the basics of digital logic and how semiconductors are designed and made. We’ll walk through the entire process, starting at the very bottom—drawing a transistor that could be used in a logic gate—and working our way through how to use an online digital design tool to build and simulate a simple design, all the way through the steps required to submit designs for manufacture on the open-source IHP PDK. Participants will have the option to have their designs manufactured on the next shuttle as part of the Tiny Tapeout project.

The Tiny Tapeout workshop is open to people with no prior experience. Participants will need a laptop and a GitHub account. A mouse is strongly advised.

Tiny Tapeout is an educational project that aims to make it easier and cheaper than ever to get your digital and analog designs manufactured on a real chip.
