Project update 5 of 8
Thank you backers! For your support, interest, and trust!
We are super excited to say that our first campaign—CaribouLite—was successful, and that we reached our funding goal thanks to you. We are now heading into the manufacturing phase of the project!
We will continue updating and sharing software, hardware, and production details in the coming months. Production has already been set up with our trusted CM, and we will keep you updated regarding its progress.
Plus, you still have a couple hours till the campaign ends (and our prices increase…).
1. EMI / RFI Shielding - Following many requests from the community, we have provided an EMI/RFI-shield design for the top and bottom sides of the board. Though we are not currently selling these parts, we will consider doing so in the future.
2. Revision 2.5 production files are available in our GitHub Repo, and you are more than welcome to have a look! We also provide the 3D models of the board.
3. Reorganization of the GitHub repository - Though our GitHub repository is still a work in progress, it is now on the right path, with two branches:
main branch will contain the "release" versions of our software and firmware, while the
develop branch will be the construction zone with new features and potentially broken test code. For now, we are still consolidating hardware, firmware, and software together in this repo, though that paradigm might change in the future to better orient our growing code base.
CaribouLite R1.0 was RED, while the R2.4 pre-production was WHITE… What about R2.5? A dilemma too difficult for engineers to solve. Engineering is about translating technology into useful products. But what about design? The beauty of the product beauty matters, which is why we would like to get your opinion on this topic!
And of course, if you have a feasible idea for an additional color variation, please let us know! After a short review, we will give you the verdict :) You can send us opinions by Email, or through a twitter poll. If no conclusive decision is reached, CaribouLite will stay WHITE.
First, we would like to thank Crowd Supply for providing a truly influential platform for makers. Their team of professionals led us through a process that otherwise would have been overly complicated. Special thanks, also, to our followers, who lit our imagination with so many ideas, questions, remarks, and proposals. And of course, many thanks to all of the backers who helped CaribouLite reach the production stage. See you soon in our first post-campaign update!
