We’re just about at the end of the campaign and over 150% funded at time of writing! I’m happy to see that this project resonated with so many people, and excited to get to the task of producing the hardware.
Depending on when this update comes out you might still have time to get the devkit at $300 and the extra cartridge packs at $40. After the campaign prices increase so now’s the time to get your GameTank!

What Happens Next?

I’ll be coordinating with Soldered Electronics to produce the ordered Developer Kits and Cartridge Packs, of course!

I’m also sending sample units of the console and cartridge flasher to Sunfire Testing to get the recorded testing needed to self-certify the CE mark.

Most of the components will be sourced by Soldered based on my Bill of Materials, but I’ll be sending in a few things that I sourced separately:

• WDC components, W65C02 and W65C22
• 4K Dual-port SRAMs for the Audio Coprocessor
• Case-mount power and reset buttons
• Controller button flexures printed in dual color for durable labels
• Controller cables with overmolded 9-pin connectors
• 28 MHz oscillator that had a huge minuimum order and lead time

All of these are either in transit or sitting right here in my workshop waiting to be packaged up, pending final order quantities.

In theory the certification testing takes two and a half weeks per testing cycle. Ideally it will pass the first time, but if it doesn’t pass the retests are free until it does.

Once the design is confirmed, production of the consoles is expected to take around 8-10 weeks. Then the packaged units will be shipped directly to Crowd Supply for fulfillment.

As soon as your new GameTank arrives and you open the box, you can plug it into your TV and enjoy Accursed Fiend right away! You’ll also be able to use the cartridge flasher to load your blank cartridges with ROM files posted by the GameTank developer community… which you are now a part of!
