Qubes OS Support

Qubes OS is now available as one of the pre-installed operating system choices for ORWL, joining Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. For those of you who already ordered an ORWL and want to switch your operating system choice to Qubes OS, simply reply to your order confirmation email saying as much. Crowd Supply will make the change for you and you will receive an updated order within 24 hours.

By design, ORWL’s physical security features are completely independent of the installed operating system; ORWL’s security neither depends on nor takes advantage of the operating system. In fact, the secure microcontroller at the heart of ORWL’s security has no knowledge at all of the operating system. This is a double-edged sword. On one hand, ORWL’s security features remain unaffected even if the operating system has been compromised. On the other hand, ORWL can’t protect the operating system from attacks outside the realm of physical security. In other words, you must still take precautions against non-physical attacks against the operating system. This is where Qubes OS comes in - whereas ORWL is the most physically secure personal computer, Qubes OS may very well be the most secure operating system for a personal computer.

Let us know if you’d like to see other operating system demos or options.
