Cellular IoT Insights

by Daan P

The first week of our campaign is over, and what a week it has been. We want to thank you all for your support. We reached our funding goal in less than 24 hours! Walter is now funded, which further strengthens our believe in the power of cellular IoT.

Many are still concerned about the intricacies of cellular data. While it can be more complex than some other technologies, cellular data also opens the door to a lot of possibilities, and our team put a great deal of effort into creating open-source libraries that abstract away much of the complexity. Andreas Spiess, a true authority in the field of microcontrollers and LPWAN communication, recently acknowledged the usability of our libraries. In the video below, he clearly explains how Walter leverages the LTE-M and NB-IoT technologies:

We have also received a lot of questions about how individuals can acquire SIM cards. Our team is working on a very accessible solution and will send a more detailed update in the coming week. Meanwhile, we can share that for the United States, France, Germany, The United Kingdom, and Japan, you can subscribe on the Soracom platform and buy an IoT SIM directly from them, even as an individual. We also know that, in some countries, LTE-M will work using the SIM card in your phone. We have verified this for the following cards:

We also invite you to visit Booth 3-610 at Embedded World 2024 in Nuremberg, Germany if you would like to see Walter and Walter Feels in action. More updates on that soon!

Meanwhile, keep telling your friends about Walter and helping us spread the love for cellular IoT!
