I am very pleased to announce the official launch of BeanCounter — the tape-and-reel counter that fits in your pocket!

When I designed BeanCounter, it was just a proof-of-concept for a completely different project. I didn’t anticipate the number of "Shut Up and Take My Money!" GIFs it would garner on social media. But after talking to a few people and looking at the existing offerings, I started to understand why certain folks were excited about the idea. My instinct is always to release projects to the public and let people build their own, which I did, but not everyone wants to build a tool. Some people just want to use it. So I decided to develop the BeanCounter idea into something that I felt comfortable selling to other hardware folks. And, a little under a year later, here we are.

For the past few months, I’ve been working to form relationships with manufacturers and vendors that will help me deliver BeanCounter on a reasonable timeline. I’ve also buttoned-up the final production design and secured OSHW Certification. Everything is staged and ready for our first production run. All I need now is your support! In the meantime, I’ll be keeping an eye on the supply chain and—if necessary—hunting down stockpiles of the parts we need. I’ll keep you updated along the way, so if you want to follow along and get your hands on a BeanCounter of your own, back the project on Crowd Supply today!
