Project update 11 of 11

New Enclosures and Production Status

by vileer d

Dear Backers,

Sorry for not updating you since October. As you may know from the last update, I have not been able to work for a while for personal reasons, but I am back to work now. The most significant process is that I received the enclosures last Monday, as shown below:

Why did it take so long for the enclosures? Well, I designed the enclosures with a 0.8 mm aluminum plate, and I used 2.5 mm screws to screw the top and bottom case together. It worked fine at first, but after long-term use, especially when I took it apart and reassembled it many times, the threads got stripped. The worst thing was when I realized that the factory was making the pre-production sample for the final production. I had to stop production and redesign. The new design uses a 1 mm aluminum plate and 2 mm screws. The problem is solved, though at the cost of more time.

The items that still need to be completed for the project are:

  1. Multi-port KVM motherboard
  2. CNC heat sink
  3. CE certification for multi-port KVM

However, due to the Chinese New Year, the factory cannot schedule production now, nor can the CE certification lab. We have to wait until the Chinese New Year holiday ends on February 8 to continue work. For the above reasons, I expect the delivery time to the Crowd Supply warehouse to be mid-March.

I am sorry for keeping you guys waiting.

Best regards,
—Vileer and the rest of the Hacker Gadgets team.
