We design and develop open-source, drop-in replacement mainboards that transform discontinued smart speakers into fully local, privacy-focused Home Assistant voice devices.

Our work combines ESP32 and XMOS-based architectures with community-driven firmware into compact, mechanically compatible PCBs that reuse original enclosures and hardware while replacing proprietary, cloud-dependent electronics.

What started as a personal experiment to regain control over voice hardware has evolved into a structured hardware project for makers, developers, and Home Assistant enthusiasts who value local processing, transparency, and long-term maintainability.
