Production Sneak Peek

by Lazar D

Hi everyone,

We’re thrilled to share that production of the Omega2 Eval Boards officially started last week! We wanted to get a jump on production before our manufacturing partners take time off for the Lunar New Year holidays in China.

While we finalize your devices, we wanted to give you a behind-the-scenes look at a few key points in the manufacturing process. The photos below are from when we manufactured our V2 prototypes. This prototype

A Glimpse into the Manufacturing Process

PCBs Produced

First the Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) are produced and tested for defects. You’ll notice there are 3 copies of the same board on a single sheet. This is common practise to maximize the number of boards produced per minute of active machine time.

PCB Assembly

After the PCBs have been produced, we move on to PCB Assembly. After solder paste is applied to the PCBs using a mask, pick and place machines accurately position all the passive components onto the Omega2 Eval Board’s PCB. This automation ensures precision and efficiency. The next step is to solder down the components in a reflow oven, where controlled heat melts the solder paste and secures the components to the board.

Rigorous Testing Procedures

Each Omega2 Eval Board undergoes thorough testing at dedicated testing stations. We verify that all components function correctly and that the board performs as expected.

Successful LED Test

A key test involves checking the board’s functionality through the LED indicators. This test confirms that the device can boot, be accessed via the serial command line, and that the GPIOs are operational. The photo shows a board that has successfully passed this test and is ready for the next stage.

Sharing Our Progress

We wanted to share these glimpses of the production process to keep you connected with the journey of your Omega2 Eval Board. We believe in transparency and thought you might enjoy seeing how your devices are made.

What’s Next?

As production continues, we’ll move toward final assembly and packaging. We’ll keep you updated on our progress and let you know as soon as we’re ready to ship your Omega2 Eval Boards.

Thank you for your support and enthusiasm. We can’t wait to see what amazing projects you’ll create!

Happy hacking!
