For our first update, we’d like to start with the basics and tell you more about the amazing E-Ink Spectra 6 panel featured on Inkplate 13SPECTRA.

E-Ink Spectra 6

The photo above shows the bold primary colors of the Spectra 6 panel. Yes, they really stand out! We’ve been thrilled to see just how well the panel handles vibrant graphics. Below, you can check out another example featuring a more detailed, colorful photo.

Spectra 6 represents big improvements over the previous generation:

• Resolution: Up to 200 pixels per inch (PPI)
• Contrast ratio: ~30:1 (depending on panel size)
• Operating temperature: 0°C to 50°C
• Colors: Six-particle architecture with red, green, blue, yellow, black, and white
• Power use: As with all e-paper, it holds an image without any power
• Connectivity: SPI communication interface
• Refresh time: Approximately 19 seconds (high-latency, suitable for static applications)

LOPEC 2026

If you stopped by E-Ink’s booth at LOPEC 2026, you might have spotted the Inkplate 13SPECTRA in action! We were proud to showcase some of our latest projects there together with E-Ink, and as always, we’re grateful for the opportunity to collaborate. Here’s our software engineer Josip (who in large part created the SPECTRA library) demo-ing some of our other e-Ink-related tools:

E-Ink continues to be a fantastic partner in bringing e-paper technology closer to developers and we love using their beautiful panels in our designs. The Spectra 6 technology brings a new level of color detail and quality that makes our Inkplate boards even more exciting to create with.
