Field Report: Voice Remote for Autonomy

I used my ANAVI Infrared pHAT to create a private, off-line, and open-source home voice assistant. The setup consists of the pHAT with a Raspberry Pi 0w along with a Pi 3b+ topped with a Matrix Creator board running Snips.AI.

The system allows me to do things like change my TV channel using my voice alone. Better still, I can use it to work my ceiling-mounted Hoyer Lift independently!

This has allowed me a freedom I have not known since an accident left me quadriplegic about a decade ago: the ability to not only transition from my bed to my chair and vice versa, but also the ability to say "look ma, no hands!" without the slightest twinge of regret or irony! Thanks again to both ANAVI and Crowd Supply for making it possible!
