The end is in sight!

Hello Amazing Supporters,

We’re back with another update to keep you in the loop with our progress and developments at Boondock Technologies!

Audio Cable Challenges

The journey of our audio cables has been quite the saga:

  1. Perfect Samples: The initial sample cables were flawless, so we approved a production run.
  2. Production Issues: The first batch had incorrect wiring. We asked the manufacturer to remake them.
  3. Sizing Problems: The second batch had the correct wiring but used incompatible components. The manufacturer is now working on the third attempt, and we are eagerly waiting for these cables to ship. If they can't get it right this time, we'll have to find someone else. The manufacturer knows our patience has worn thin and is extremely apologetic for the repeated mistakes.
Top: The sample TRRS cable we received from the manufacturer. Bottom: The second cable we received from the manufacturer, with a longer shield and inferior wire gauge, neither of which are acceptable changes to the approved design.

Design Excellence

We’ve hired a fantastic graphic designer, Scott Fisher, who has brilliantly redesigned the sticker for the Boondock Echo case. His design surpasses anything we imagined, and we can’t wait for you to see it in person!

Scott created a clever design that wraps over the edges of the case to provide labels on the side. And he incorporated a mountain theme that reminds us of where we envisioned the first Boondock Echo use case!

We’re also trying 3D prints from a few different manufacturers. Jesse is spearheading this since he knows the most about the processes; KC and Mark don’t know their SLS from their PLA. The samples allowed us to do some minor tweaks to improve the mechanical stability of the case so you’ll ultimately get a more robust product!

Incoming Electronics!

The electronics should be shipped to Madison, WI. by the week of June 17th. Once they arrive, we’ll personally test each unit and load the initial firmware. After this, the units will head to California for final assembly before being shipped to Crowd Supply and ultimately to you!

Cloud Features and Stability

In the meantime, we’re working tirelessly to enhance our cloud features. We’ve installed our own server hardware across various locations in the country, improving reliability and reducing costs. If all goes well, this will lead to long-term feature improvements and cost reductions for everyone!

Looking Ahead

Despite the moving parts and potential challenges, we’re aiming to have everything completed and on its way to Crowd Supply by mid to late July.
