Project update 8 of 10

One Busy Month

by Javier C

Hello again!

It’s been a month since the campaign ended, and we have been quiet… but busy!

Purchase Order and Funds

First of all, there is the administrative paperwork to receive the campaign funds. This was mostly handled by Crowd Supply and this week we have finally received an official purchase order for 154 units. Funds should arrive shortly, yay!

Parts Arrived at Factory

To expedite things, we advanced the funds to purchase all components, including the printed circuit board sub-assemblies. Managing a bill of materials with over 30 unique parts as diverse as digital ICs, sensors, keycaps, silicon tubing, 3D printed parts or plain old L-brackets has its challenges. But the good news is that all the parts arrived safely to the factory in Portugal.

New Reference Built

We built a new reference unit, given that we had made slight changes to our golden boards (see our last update for details on why we decided to make those changes) and confirmed that Haxophone passes all our tests.

Production Kick-Off

And so production has started. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves…

Boxing Preparations

We finally resolved our issues with packaging. We now have boxes ready that will nicely accommodate the Haxophones. See below a thumb rest peeking out to see the world…

Ambitious Goals

We striving to have all the units assembled and tested by the end of next week, and shipping to Mouser before the end of the month. Let’s hope the smooth sailing continues!

Reach out

That wraps up today’s update. Please don’t hesitate to reach out via the Ask Questions section on the campaign page. Comments, questions, suggestions or rants are all welcome!

Stay musical,
