Hello again,
It’s been around two months since our last update, in which we estimated we’d be wrapping up the final shipment of units in two months time. I’m happy to be able to say that by the end of this week we will have finished assembling the last of the roughly 1300 Tangara units you helped crowdfund all the way back in March 2024.
It’s been a big undertaking for a small team; we started assembling devices in October last year. Since then we’ve been working hard soldering displays, folding boxes, printing battery cages, and trying to keep a mischievous orange cat from sitting on the units as we’re putting them together.
With us finishing this batch, we’ll be taking a break from production for a while. We have a number of things we want to improve for the next production run, and are looking forward to having more time to work on improving the firmware as well.
We’ve learned a lot during the time we’ve been putting together units and we have some ideas for improvements we want to make. We want to take the time to properly investigate these ideas, rather than rush into another production run. This does mean that Tangara will be unavailable for a while, but we feel taking preorders while we’re making these changes would limit our options somewhat.
It really has been quite a journey so far, and we’re not done yet, but we are very much looking forward to a well deserved break after this final shipment. Thank you all again for your support in bringing Tangara to life and we hope to have some exciting updates for you all soon.
