Jupiter I/O Board is a fully open-source data acquisition (DAQ) and control platform designed for engineers, scientists, educators, and makers who need more than just a black-box solution. Unlike conventional DAQ boards that restrict access to firmware, hardware, or customization, Jupiter I/O gives you complete control—from modifying microcontroller firmware to integrating your own software and user interfaces. It combines professional-grade components like high-resolution ADCs, DACs, and 26 digital I/O lines with open schematics, source code, and PC libraries in Python, C++, and Lua.
Whether you’re automating a lab experiment, retrofitting industrial equipment, building a sensor network, or teaching embedded systems, Jupiter I/O Board simplifies the process. It allows you to tailor functionality to your exact needs, accelerate development, and explore new solutions without the limitations of proprietary platforms.
Wherever you need high-performance data acquisition and customizable control, Jupiter I/O Board is a fantastic solution. It excels in laboratory instrumentation, scientific research, and process automation, making it a powerful tool for collecting and analyzing sensor data in real time.
Engineers and developers can use it to prototype custom embedded systems, while educators will find it well-suited for hands-on learning in electronics, programming, and control theory. The board is also well-suited for retrofitting legacy equipment, such as machine tools and industrial systems, where it can modernize control interfaces and improve functionality without costly overhauls.
As a standalone DAQ system, the Jupiter I/O Board can be quickly connected to a wide variety of sensors and actuators, offering immediate insight into physical systems. Its accessible design allows users to wire up components, run measurements, and generate outputs with minimal setup. On the other hand, as a development tool, it enables users to go further—easily modify firmware, adapt existing software, and prototype custom workflows that can eventually be transferred to dedicated hardware solutions.
Jupiter I/O Board is open hardware. We’re making the hardware available under the CERN OHL V2 license, and the software/firmware under the GPLv3 license. We’ll put all of this information on our GitHub page in the near future, likely before the crowdfunding campaign goes live.
