Wireless Convergence Platform Vision

Over the course of the past few weeks, together with key partners we have demonstrated just a small selection of the potential wireless applications that can be run on LimeNET hardware. The focus has been on cellular and classic use cases, but this is just the tip of the iceberg and the opportunity exists to support many more application domains — not to mention new and novel use cases.

More than just this, LimeNET offers the possibility of creating converged wireless platforms which are able to support multiple wireless systems and are fully software upgradable, with the flexibility, ease, and security afforded by Ubuntu snap packaging, app store delivery, and Ubuntu Core Linux on devices. This is something that was hinted at in the Quortus demo at the BT / EE mini hackathon — with an LTE EPC installed and fully configured in the space of just a few minutes — and which we will be providing more details of over the coming weeks and months, with additional apps and LimeNET Ubuntu Core images that are integrated with the store.
