Object Detection vs. Localization

Production Updates

Yesterday we kicked off our first large production run of the DepthAI SoM.

Later this week we will be kicking off manufacturing of the remaining hardware:

  • RPi Compute Module Edition
  • RPi HAT Edition
  • USB3 Edition
  • 12MP Color Camera Module
  • 1MP Global Shutter Stereo Camera Modules

Object Detection vs. Localization

Out of the questions we’ve received in the campaign so far, we’ve realized that we haven’t done a great job of showing what object detection is vs. object localization.

To show this clearer, we made a brief animation below:

Anyway, thanks for following our campaign! If you haven’t reserved your DepthAI, there’s still some time left in the campaign to place your order! And if you have already backed our project, you can help us even more by sharing this campaign with someone who might be interested.

Best,
Brandon and the Luxonis team

Brandon quit his job at Ubiquiti leading the UniFi team in order to focus on embedded machine learning and computer vision. He misses the UniFi team. But he just had to try this, as he thinks it's the future!
