Following up on the GPS performance issue, I’ve finally managed to identify the root cause. The USB connector was causing interference with the GPS signal, which in some cases caused the GPS to lose its location fix.

After extensive testing, I determined that the proper solution is either shielding the connector or using a shielded connector. Unfortunately, this is not possible using the current enclosure design, so the solution requires redesigning both the PCB and the enclosure.

I have already completed the PCB redesign. The new revision now uses a USB-C connector. I also made significant improvements to the component placement to ensure the best possible GPS performance.

Since the enclosure already needed redesigning, I also took the opportunity to upgrade to a higher-performance LTE antenna with improved low-band efficiency. The overall form factor remains very similar to the previous design, although the device length has increased slightly by around 20 mm as a tradeoff for the improved performance.

Please rest assured that I’m working as quickly as possible to get orders shipped. At this stage, I estimate shipping will begin by the end of July. I will continue to keep everyone updated as we reach new milestones.
