Peace of Mind at a Glance & Full Open Source Release

by Sparsh Bhonwal

Hi everyone,

As we enter the final hours of the USB VSense campaign, we want to express our sincere appreciation for your support. With the funding goal secured, we are ready to shift gears to manufacturing.

We wanted to end this campaign by sharing a bit of our own story — specifically, how our perspective changed over the last year of using USB VSense daily.

The "Sit Back and Relax" Moment

When we first designed USB VSense, we were obsessed with the hard numbers: voltage protection, efficiency, and mechanical ruggedness. But after living with the device on our desks for over a year, we realized that the feature we actually rely on most isn’t on the datasheet.

It’s the ambient visibility.

Usually, verifying a fast charge requires unlocking your phone and squinting at a tiny battery icon.

Over the last year, we stopped doing that. We found ourselves instinctively plugging our devices in through USB VSense rather than connecting directly, simply because of the peace of mind it provides. What USB VSense has allowed us to do is see the status of our phone charging from any corner of the room.

With dedicated indicators for every voltage level, you can actually track the charging progress just by observing the LED patterns:

  1. Fast Charge Starts: When we first plug in a low battery, the light jumps immediately from the default Solid Red (5 V) to Solid Orange (9 V). We verify instantly that the handshake succeeded and Fast Charging is working.
  2. The Ramp Down: As the battery fills, the phone uses PPS to gently lower the voltage. We start to see the balance shift -- Solid Orange with a Blinking Red (5 V).
  3. The Finish Line: As it gets closer to full, the pattern flips -- Solid Red with a Blinking Orange -- until finally, the light returns to a Solid Red (5 V).

That return to a steady Solid Red acts as a "Done" notification. We know the phone has finished charging and dropped to a trickle charge — all without leaving the couch or unlocking the screen.

It transforms charging from a "black box" mystery into an ambient status you can passively monitor. It isn’t just about verifying the connection; it’s about the ability to constantly track the entire charge cycle from the comfort of the couch. That is the experience we are excited to ship to you: true peace of mind, visible from across the room.

Fully Open Source: Yours to Explore

"Open Source" isn’t a marketing buzzword for us — it is an invitation to learn. We are thrilled to officially release the complete design files for USB VSense. We believe in contributing to the community by sharing knowledge.

We have selected specific licenses and applied for OSHWA certification to ensure this remains a resource for everyone, forever:

Thank You & Final Pricing Alert

To our backers: Thank you. Your support didn’t just fund a production run; it validated the idea that simple, rugged, single-purpose tools still have a place in a complicated world.

This is the absolute last chance to secure the USB VSense (or the 3-Pack) at the Crowd Supply campaign price. As soon as the campaign clock hits zero, the price will increase to the full retail price for all future orders. If you have been waiting to pull the trigger, now is the time.

Sit back, relax, and wait for your shipment notification. We’ll take it from here.
