Audio & Music
Hoopi Pedal is an effects pedal with built-in high-fidelity recording, designed for musicians who want to create great-sounding performance videos—fast. Plug in your instrument and microphone, add effects, and record studio-quality audio directly to a microSD card while you film with your phone.
What sets Hoopi Pedal apart is how effortlessly it turns a performance into a finished video. Instead of juggling audio interfaces, DAWs, or video-editing apps, Hoopi’s free companion app automatically syncs your high-quality recorded audio—with effects applied—to your phone’s video. The result is a polished, professional clip ready in minutes, so aspiring musicians can focus on performing and sharing.
Hoopi Pedal is built for musicians who play everywhere, not just in a studio. An aspiring singer-songwriter might be rehearsing in a bedroom, busking on the sidewalk, playing an open-mic night, or performing at a small gathering with friends. In the moment, everything sounds great: the voice cuts through, the guitar feels alive, and the vibe is right. But later, when watching the phone recording, the magic is gone—muddy audio, distant vocals, and uneven levels that don’t reflect how it actually sounded.
With Hoopi Pedal, that gap disappears. Set up your phone to capture video, plug your mic and instrument into Hoopi, add effects, and play. Hoopi records clean, high-fidelity audio directly to its microSD card while you perform. Afterward, the companion app automatically syncs the recorded audio—with effects applied—to the video, producing a polished clip without lining up waveforms or editing timelines.
Hoopi fits naturally into rehearsals, casual performances, and everyday music-making. It lets musicians capture performances the way they heard them in the moment, record more often, and share their work easily, turning spontaneous playing into videos worth posting.
Hoopi Pedal is open source hardware, and we’re making the firmware and board schematic available to everyone under the MIT license. We welcome everyone to submit feedback or pull requests to help the community improve and build new features. These files are available on our GitHub page.
