Thank you for supporting our crowdfunding campaign! ANAVI Macro Pad 2 has been fully funded, all stretch goals have been met, and we’ve started manufacturing.
The most important component of the ANAVI Macro Pad 2 is the Microchip ATTiny85 8-bit AVR microcontroller. It is a well-known chip used in many awesome soldering and educational kits. For our open source hardware 2% keyboard we are using the ATTINY85-20SU, which has a SOIC-8 package suitable for surface-mount technology (SMT) and clock frequency up to 20 MHz.
Nowadays, due to the global chip shortage, sourcing components can be a huge challenge. Our top priority was to get enough Microchip ATTiny85 microcontrollers in stock even before the end of the campaign. With the help of the Crowd Supply team, we were able to purchase enough of them. We bought them just in time from Mouser, plus some other European suppliers. A few days later, ATTINY85-20SU went out of stock and became almost impossible to find it anywhere. Although the next delivery dates for ATTINY85-20SU in Mouser are set for February 2022, the estimated shipping date for ANAVI Macro Pad 2 remains Oct 22, 2021.
As you can see, we already have a lot of the printed circuit boards already assembled. In the coming weeks we will proceed with flashing the firmware, testing, laser cutting the acrylic enclosures, packaging, and the paperwork required for the shipping. It is a long process but we will keep you updated all along the way.
Thank you again for supporting ANAVI Macro Pad 2!
Best regards, Leon
