Final Week Update

by Robert J

The end of the campaign is in sight!

There are just a handful of days left in the campaign and we are truly overwhelmed by the support you’ve shown to help us bring Gliss to life! We thank you all! This is our final update while the campaign is live, although we will be keeping all our backers up to date with manufacturing progress once the campaign ends.

Final prototypes arriving

In the first half of February we will be receiving back our final prototypes of the hardware from our manufacturing partner. We will then verify these designs and thoroughly test them to make sure we are happy with the behavior before sending off the final plans for manufacturing, this time on a larger scale. The modules and sensors will then be delivered to you all from May 1st. For now we just wanted to share some more teasers of Gliss in action!

Gliss controlling Physical models

At Bela we are big fans of Mutable Instruments and take great inspiration from their open source ethos, design philosophy and incredible synthesizer modules. In this video you can see Gliss controlling a version of their Rings module running on our Pepper module.

Gliss is the perfect counterpart for complex synthesis models as you have two dimensions of highly sensitive and high resolution controls (touch position and touch size) literally under your fingertip. In the video above we are using touch size to control the Damping and Brightness parameters of the voltage-controlled resonator. The touch position on the other hand is used to control the speed at which the excitation signal is repeated.

Keep an eye on our social media channels for updates in the coming weeks.

As ever, thank you for the ongoing support.
