Shipping and Software Updates

Hello all!

Sorry for the lack of updates since the end of the campaign, I’ve been wildly busy getting everything in line for the first production Twoolheads to go out into the world. So far it looks like everything is on track; the TAZ 6 printers from the bundles should be arriving at their new homes any day now (directly from LulzBot’s warehouses) and the Twoolheads themselves should be ready to ship out sometime next week. Once I’ve gotten all the Twoolheads shipped out I’ll do a more detailed writeup on the first production build, but in the mean time here are some images from the build!

Mmm deconstructed Twoolheads.
Parts and stuff.
Printing back plates.
Printing fan ducts.
Production area.
Twoooooooooolheads woot!

Here’s an 0.8mm nozzle version of the Twoolhead cranking out some extruder mounts

I’m also happy to announce that the Twoolhead will be compatible with the new CURA LulzBot edition that’s just come out. There are loads of great new features that make it absolutely worth the effort to implement it, and the Twoolhead should be easier to support from here on out. One of my favorite features is the "fuzzy skin" modifier that adds random noise to the outer skin of the print to help hide small print defects. It’s a 3D version of the concept of dithering https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dither. Scroll down to the pictures of cats for a tl;dr version. Super cool.

I’ll try to follow up with more frequent updates once these Twoolheads have been shipped, thanks again to all the supporters of the project!!
