Music in Real Time

Dreamweaver 4N is a four note sequencer with potentiometers that allow the user to make their own unique music.

Control Everything with Knobs and Switches

There are six control knobs. Four knobs control up to four different notes, the fifth one controls how long the notes play, and the sixth controls the spacing between the notes. Each note can be turned on and off with a latching button.

Earlier prototype shown here, 2019.

On-board Buzzer and Headphone Jack

While Dreamweaver 4N has a small piezo-buzzer you can listen to, but its true sound comes out when you connect it to your sound system through the on-board headphone jack.

Support & Documentation

This project is proudly open source - hardware and software. We want you to be able to share what you can create with your Dreamweaver 4N. We’ll add more resources as they become available. Hardware files will be uploaded when they are complete, and we’re working on a guide for programming that will be published during this campaign.

Stretch Goals

If there is a lot of interest, we can make some modifications to the Dreamweaver board. See details on stretch goals below:

$13,000 USD - Rechargeable Battery: We will add a bonus rechargeable USB 2200 mah battery pack to the Dreamweaver 4N system so that you can use it in the wild. The battery is similar to the one that charges your phone.

Manufacturing Plan

We plan on doing all of the manufacturing and assembly in the USA, specifically at our offices in Augusta, Georgia. We have experience doing assembly and production work right in the heart of downtown Augusta. We do this to keep production local, but we also think it is very important to help teach these types of skills to locals who may not have an opportunity to learn them otherwise.

Fulfillment & Logistics

We will complete the manufacturing in Augusta, Georgia. Each unit will be individually tested through a verification and validation process and then wrapped in antistatic foam, packed in individual boxes, and shipped directly to the Crowd Supply fulfillment center for distribution to backers. For more information, please see Crowd Supply’s ordering, paying, and shipping guide.

Risks & Challenges

We already have the majority of the parts needed to build Dreamweaver - we just need you to order yours! If there are any delays with production, or issues during the build, we’ll be sure to communicate these clearly and promptly with project updates.

Dreamweaver 4N Backstory

I started out making small keyboards and synth type devices around the ATmega328P microcontroller so making a small sequencer around the ATmega328P was the next natural step. When I came up with the idea, I was showing a friend of mine a three-octave keyboard I made out of the microcontroller and he asked if I had ever made a sequencer. At the time, I hadn’t, but I decided that I would design one to add to my next order from my PCB manufacturer. Once I got it I could not put it down. The next day I took it to an electronic music festival and showed everyone. When eight people wanted to buy one right then and there, I knew I had something that people would want. This is why I am now bringing the Dreamweaver 4N to the Crowd Supply market to share it with the world.
