Fusion Chime Vision is a next-generation smart doorbell system that transforms how you interact with visitors. More than just a chime, it features a built-in display that allows you to greet guests with custom messages, images, or alerts, adding a personalized touch to every visit. Powered by the ESP32 and open-source firmware, the Fusion Chime platform is fully customizable, enabling users to modify, expand, and integrate it into their smart home ecosystem. Whether you want to display notifications, change chime sounds, or automate actions, the possibilities are endless.
The Fusion Chime Vision Doorbell unit, Smart Chime, and optional Display Panel are compatible with conventional doorbell wiring, making installation straightforward without requiring extra cabling or batteries. The entire system can also be integrated into home automation platforms such as Home Assistant and ESPHome, enabling seamless smart home control and automation.
Our Fusion Chime Vision system starts with the feature-packed, weather-resistant doorbell unit. Featuring a 2.4-inch customizable display that can show text messages, images, or notifications. A web interface lets you leave seasonal greetings or information for guests to know before they enter your home. When guests arrive, a PIR motion sensor will let you know they’re near, triggering image and audio capture to the doorbell’s internal memory.
Powered by an ESP32-CAM module, the doorbell connects to your home Wi-Fi network and other smart home devices, enabling two-way communication and real-time video streaming. For a more reliable doorbell chime, you can alternatively use the built-in 433 MHz wireless, but a good old-fashioned wired connection works great, too. Installation is made easy with an included snap-fit mounting bracket.
Two other optional components bring even more functionality to your Fusion Chime Vision system: an indoor customizable Smart Chime and a touchscreen Display Panel. These let you have a dedicated hub for all the information the doorbell’s collecting (image, sound, temperature, etc.) or set a custom doorbell chime sound. And, since it’s all open hardware, your ability to tailor Fusion Chime Vision to your home and your family’s needs is almost endless.
The Fusion Chime Vision Doorbell requires a chime mechanism to function properly and is not compatible with traditional doorbells, existing intercoms, and other smart-chime systems. Unless you implement your own custom hardware for this purpose, you will need at least one of our Chime units to use our Doorbell. (We sell the Chime separately so you can buy additional units if you need to cover multiple rooms that are far apart.) The diagrams below show two common installation scenarios:

¹ Conventional chimes typically stay connected permanently to the same power line as the doorbell. Fusion Chime Vision preserves this structure and does not require a separate power outlet
² Fusion Display is optional and sold separately
Fusion Chime Vision has a fully open-source firmware to support feature customization and integration with home automation systems. More information about this project, including schematics, will be made available before we begin fulfillment, and all 3D models for the Doorbell, Display, and Chime will be published in STL formats, along with the original Tinkercad design for easy customization and re‑printing. We invite developers to contribute new integrations, chime sounds, and other features to the platform as well.
PCB fabrication and partial assembly (SMD components) will be carried out by a manufacturer in China. Through-hole module soldering, 3D-printed enclosure production, sealing gasket placement, and final assembly will be done in the Netherlands. In particular, the outdoor unit requires precise manual work for aligning the front panel, fitting the gasket, integrating modules, and ensuring everything is placed seamlessly inside the enclosure. After loading the final firmware and performing quality control tests, the units will be packaged and shipped to Mouser for fulfillment.
Completed and tested units will be shipped from the Netherlands to Mouser’s warehouse, which will handle global fulfillment and logistics. This ensures reliable delivery to backers worldwide, with tracking and customer support provided by Mouser’s established infrastructure. You can learn more about Crowd Supply’s fulfillment service under Ordering, Paying, and Shipping in their guide.
The product has been in daily use at my own home for nearly a year, and the hardware design is fully finalized. During the prototyping phase, I worked with multiple manufacturers and validated the design through different production methods. All components used in the product can be sourced from multiple suppliers, reducing the risk of supply-chain issues. In short, there is no risk of the project not being completed.
