Boards Have Arrived & New Tutorials

Hello everyone!

We hope you all are doing well during these trying times. We wish you the best of luck during this pandemic and hope that this will all be over soon!

For this update, we have some exciting news for our backers! We are also proud to introduce some tutorials and demos we developed to show off EASE’s compatibility with CODESYS!

EASE Boards Have Arrived

This past week, we received more of the latest revision of EASE from our manufacturer! We now have enough EASE boards for all of our current backers, and they will be shipped out according to the order in which we received purchases. That means everyone who backed our project so far should receive an EASE by the end of this month. We might even have a few left over for those who purchase one after today. We have more boards coming in toward the end of April or the beginning of May for other potential backers. Either way, we are excited to get EASE out into the world and see what you all can develop!

New Tutorials and Demos

Since our update on Jan. 14, 2020, we have developed several more tutorials and demos to show off EASE’s compatibility, capabilities, and ease of use. All of this material is on our Hackster.io page. For anyone who is not familiar with Hackster.io, it is a "community dedicated to learning hardware, from beginner to pro" and a place where you can "share your projects and learn from other developers." Below are the tutorials and demos we have recently uploaded.

  1. Connect Touch LCD & Motor Shield w/ EASE Tutorial - Use an EtherCAT master to communicate with 2 EtherCAT Arduino Shield by Esmacat (EASE) on Arduino to control motors using Touch shield input.
  2. Raspberry Pi with Codesys PLC UI Controlling an Arduino - Use a Raspberry Pi with CODESYS to control the LED on the EtherCAT Arduino Shield by Esmacat attached to an Arduino Uno using EtherCAT.
  3. 5 MCU Boards Communicating with Each Other Through EtherCAT - Light sensor shield signals 4 other Arduino shields to change accordingly through an EtherCAT Arduino Shield by Esmacat & an EtherCAT master.
  4. Raspberry Pi with Codesys PLC UI - Arduino controlling Motors - Use a Raspberry Pi with CODESYS to control motors attached to an Arduino Uno through EtherCAT using the EtherCAT Arduino Shield by Esmacat (EASE).
  5. Pi & CODESYSPLC-Arduino to control Motors using a LCD Shield - Use a Raspberry Pi with CODESYS PLC to control motors attached to an Arduino Uno and EASE using input from another LCD Shield with EASE and EtherCAT.
  6. Easy Way to Build IoT System w/ Mbed Through EtherCAT - This project demonstrates how to build an IoT system quickly and easily with Mbed, an Arduino like platform, and EtherCAT Arduino Shield by Esmacat (EASE).
