Although RGGBer is a dev kit with a series of modular hardware designed around machine vision development, its FPGA processor board can function independently in a variety of applications. It can be used for all kinds of development work that could benefit from an FPGA with a full set of expansion ports and on-board hardware resources. During the crowdfunding and pre-order phases of the campaign, the FPGA processor board is available at a very low price.

The processor board consists of:

• The EP4CE30F23C6N/C8N chip, which is the mid-range FPGA of Alter's Cyclone IV series.
• 2 x MT47H64M16HR DDR2 chips. These are typically used as a large volume data buffer.
• USB to UART bridge chip lets the user directly access the FPGA from PC
• iXHis expansion port supports both LVDS communications mode and single-ended mode by simply configuring a jumper.
• High speed board-to-board connectors expand the FPGA's I/Os, PLL clock ouputs, dedicated clock input, and power.
• JTAG interface
