Shipping Status, Volume Manufacturing, and Limited Warranty

Thank you for your patience while we continue to manufacture and ship LimeSDR, LimeSDR Mini, and related products. We are experiencing a modest delay in fulfilling all outstanding orders while we ramp up higher-volume manufacturing and transfer inventory management fully over to Crowd Supply.

Revised Delivery Schedule

For reasons explained below, if you’ve already placed your order and are still waiting to receive your LimeSDR, LimeSDR Mini, or related products, we expect your order to ship about eight weeks from now, in mid-July. Obviously, this is much further out than originally expected and we do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Although this is our official delivery date for the orders in hand, we are doing everything we can to expedite delivery by exercising our influence on our supplier partners. This, we hope, could result in improving the above delivery timeline. We will of course honour any cancellation requests. You can see the status of your orders by logging in to your Crowd Supply account. For more information about orders and shipping, please see also The Crowd Supply Guide.

Volume Manufacturing

Up until now, we’ve been manufacturing LimeSDR products in fits and starts in order to efficiently allocate resources to meet demand in close to real time. While we’ve successfully manufactured and shipped many thousands of units, we are working hard to catch up with the back log of orders. Indeed, the more we ship, the more demand there is. This, of course, is very welcome, as we now can look to organising a much higher volume production plan.

As part of this effort, we’re pleased to announce that we’ve extended our relationship with Crowd Supply and, effective immediately, have given them exclusive control over all LimeSDR-related inventory management and distribution. We believe this will free up our production team to focus on manufacturing and developing products at the cutting edge of software-defined radio, and at the same time ensure much better availability of LimeSDR products, predictability of delivery schedules, and overall quality of the customer experience.

In this new arrangement, Crowd Supply will place bulk orders on a quarterly basis, which allows us to plan for parts lead times and manufacturing capacity in the same way as we deal with the mass production of our chipsets. Indeed, their first order of 5,000 boards under this scheme is already underway, split between LimeSDR Mini and LimeSDR USB Type-A. These boards are on track to ship to backers in mid-July, with quarterly large-volume production plans already in place.

Please note that in order to simplify the LimeSDR line-up and take advantage of larger manufacturing runs, the LimeSDR USB micro Type-B has been retired.

Sales and Distribution Inquiries

Crowd Supply is now the exclusive distributor of LimeSDR products. If you are looking to purchase a LimeSDR product, including purchases for resale, please purchase from Crowd Supply directly.

Limited Warranty

We have designed, implemented, and then improved on a sophisticated quality control system for all LimeSDR products, particularly as we scale up for large volumes. The end result is a highly reliable product. However, some very rare failures are unavoidable. For example, a board that passed all our tests may not exhibit any problems until after some high temperature fluctuations cause a faulty solder joint to crack. At the same time, we’ve also seen boards mishandled and used in ways well outside of the operational parameters we’ve set. With all this in mind, we are instituting a three-month limited warranty policy for all LimeSDR products, including LimeSDR Mini. Specifically, if there has been a failure within three months of the product shipping to you and we can ascertain that it was not through mishandling or misuse, we will replace it. In some cases, we may require you to send the product back to us for a post-mortem, or to take pictures of your set up so we can better diagnose the problem and help find a solution. Indeed, we very much welcome the reporting of any issues to do with quality to improve our manufacturing process and the overall yield. To start the warranty process, please contact us directly.

Once again, many thanks for all your support.
