Project update 9 of 11

Highlights, Certifications, and Production Progress

by Alexander S

Hi everyone,

As we head toward the end of the year, we’d like to provide an update on where we are today.

Thank you again for backing the campaign and for your patience while we’ve been working through events, regulations, and production. We’re happy to say that things are going well.

Design Shenzhen

Back in September, we attended the Design Shenzhen show and shared a booth with our partner ENILINK. We showcased Glider along with our next in-progress driver board, Enchanter, which is designed to drive screens larger than 13".

Below are images and video from the event, you can also see Enchanter driving thirty-two Gallery 3 screens!

Visiting E Ink

Being local to the Boston area, we had the opportunity to visit E Ink’s office in Billerica, MA. It was great to share what we’ve been working on with Glider, get a tour of the facility, and talk with their team. One highlight was a timeline installation running from 1998 to 2022, showcasing milestones in the evolution of e-ink from early prototypes to today.

Many thanks to the Billerica team for hosting us, walking us through the timeline, and taking the time to talk with us.

Regulations, Tariffs, and Certifications

Over the last few months, one of the uncertainties for us has been the regulatory side:

The good news is that we’re through that phase: we now have FCC certification, as well as CE and UKCA certifications. This means Glider is fully certified, and we can move ahead with production and shipping.

Panels, plates, and adapters

On the hardware side, we’ve been obtaining everything we need for the first production run.

We have:

Below, you’ll find some photos of e-ink panels, the backplates, and the Glider Mega Adapter.

Production and PCBs

On the production side, things are taking shape:

Once PCB production is complete, we move into the next stages:

  1. Assembly of the boards
  2. Flashing firmware
  3. Testing and QA of the assembled units

This is where we verify that everything works correctly across the batch before we pack and ship.

What’s Done and What’s Next

Here’s an overview of where we are right now.

What’s Next

Shipping Timeline

We’re still aiming for shipping to start in January, assuming PCB production and final assembly go as planned and there are no unexpected delays in the supply chain or logistics. If anything significant changes with that timeline, we’ll let you know as soon as possible.

Community and Discord

Meanwhile, our Discord community continues to grow. More people are joining, asking questions, sharing setups, and exploring what’s possible with Glider.

There’s also growing interest in a community-driven wiki: a shared space for documentation, experiments, and tips. If that sounds interesting to you, we’d really appreciate your help shaping it, whether that’s contributing notes, sharing workflows, or just letting us know what you’d like to see covered.

In Closing

Thank you again for your support and patience as we navigated certifications and set up production. We’re excited to be at the point where boards are being manufactured.

We’re looking forward to sending you another update soon, with more precise shipping dates.

Próspero Año Nuevo y nos vemos en 2026.
