Prunt Board 3 is the first widely available hardware to run the Prunt motion controller, an advanced open-source motion control system built from the ground up for 3D printers.

Most 3D printer motion systems rely on 3-phase trapezoidal motion profiles. Prunt replaces that with a 31-phase S-curve profile that more accurately models how physical objects actually move. This results in reduced ringing artifacts, better print quality, and less vibration-related stress on your printer’s mechanical components.

Prunt Board 3 pairs the Prunt motion controller system with:

• Hardware-accelerated step generation for extremely precise timing
• Six TMC2240 stepper drivers
• Robust over-current and short-circuit protection
• High-speed fan tachometer support
• Fully isolated USB to protect your PC or Raspberry Pi if something goes sideways

We have also reduced the board footprint since initially announcing the project. Prunt Board 3 is 37% smaller than its previous version, making it significantly more practical for small printer builds.

Prunt Board 3 is fully open source. Software source code is available under an MIT license (with some GPLv3 dependencies and therefore GPLv3 binaries), and complete hardware files will be published before boards ship to backers.
