Hey Everyone,
I like to get the bad news out of the way first so unfortunately it looks like the ship date will have to be delayed a again. I’ve been holding off on this a bit in case there were any changes. The panels have been produced and are currently en route to us, but shipping by sea takes a couple of weeks. They shipped about a week ago. This is far later than was expected, and honestly it’s unacceptable. For future orders, I will likely switch suppliers as the current supplier seemed to run into too many logistical issues. The actual manufacturer of the panel will be the same so there won’t be any changes to DeckSight. The "Supplier" is just the middle man, kind of like if I want to buy a chip from Texas Instruments, I buy it from Mouser, not Texas Instruments. It’s a little different for custom components like this but it’s the same idea. I’ve already been discussing a future order with a different supplier but this initial order was way too far along to do anything about other than complain.
We already have everything else on hand (packaging, FPC cables, toolkits, etc.). The expected timeline is that we should receive the panels about the date it was scheduled to ship from Crowd Supply/Mouser (around June 20th). It will take about one to two weeks to get them finished up and sent to Mouser. Mouser takes about 2 weeks to receive and start distributing, so they request the ship date be set about 2 weeks from when they receive the order. So overall it looks like the ship date will be delayed by about a month, to around July 20th. I do apologize to the backers eagerly awaiting DeckSight’s arrival as this took way longer than expected. On the bright side, with everything currently going on with international trade it could have been much worse.
We’ve created a graphical installer to make it easier to get DeckSight going. There is also a Git repo where the software components can be found. The BIOS/release package won’t be available until the day DeckSight ships, just in case any changes are made so we can avoid having too many versions floating around. The "Installation" section on my website’s install page has the link for the DeckSight.desktop file. This is a file you can just double click to get the installer going as long as you already have a sudo password set. Behind the scenes it is downloading the Git release package, extracting it and executing the install.sh file.
I also posted an installation video on YouTube about a month ago. It precedes the installer so that is not shown. It’s also pretty long and boring but it should answer any questions about the physical installation.

Also, visit the "Known Issues" page on the website. These are a couple of minor annoyances that currently exist. They may or may not be resolved with a BIOS revision before it actually ships.
Again, apologies for the delays and thanks for hanging in there.
Regards,
Shade Technik
