Diabolic Drive USB Type-C support

by Omar Youssef

Hi everyone, I hope you all are well.

This will be a quick update about USB Type-C support for the Diabolic Drive. In short, Diabolic Drive fully supports connecting to a USB-C port via any OTG adapter, as shown in the image below.

You might ask why I didn’t go for a dual-drive design, implementing the USB Type-C connector into the PCB? One reason is I didn’t want to lose compatibility with the widely available flash drive enclosures out there. If we compare the availability of dual-drive flash drives to USB-A-only drives, you can see why I chose to go with the USB-A connector only.

In any case, you can barely find a computer or laptop that doesn’t include a USB Type-A port nowadays (except for the newer models of the Apple MacBook). Lastly, the size limitations of the PCB were a big obstacle to designing any non-essential implementations.

If you haven’t already, please support the Diabolic Drive campaign and tell your friends to too!
