Software & Gateware Unification

by Andrew Avtushenko

We’ve reached an important milestone in simplifying the SDR software stack across our platforms:

xSDR and sSDR now share a single FPGA design and unified host-side library, significantly reducing fragmentation, improving maintainability, and ensuring consistent behavior across devices.

As an additional benefit driven by community feedback, we’ve introduced optional support for legacy XTRX hardware. This means existing XTRX users can plug into the same modern stack without changing their workflows, while new users can stay fully focused on xSDR/sSDR.

Software Stack

SoapySDR remains the primary integration layer. For latency-sensitive paths, a native API is available. Python bindings for the native API have been added to simplify prototyping and testing.
