The Developer Kit does not require any soldering. It features Gateron red mechanical switches and translucent keycaps with red backlighting. The Developer Kit is easy to get started with, and it is perfect even for newbies. Just pop the keycaps on, and you’re ready to go.

Maker Kit

The Maker Kit is for advanced users only. It requires soldering, but provides you the opportunity to pick your own mechanical switches (compatible with Cherry MX plate footprint), color of 3 mm backlit LEDs, and keycaps. These can easily be purchased from Mouser or other distributors of electronic components.

Acrylic Case

This enclosure gives your ANAVI Macro Pad 8 a bit of protection, lifts the board off the table so the underlighting is maximally effective, and helps keep the board in place with four rubber bumpers. The acrylic panels are screwed together easily with included hardware.

Mini OLED Display

A 0.96" mini OLED display that connects with the board over an I²C interface. A short extension cable is also included if you’d rather have the display slightly separate from the board. The display can be programmed with whatever information you want through Arduino IDE.

Stretch Goals

Our crowdfunding campaign has a very modest goal of just $1, but if we raise:

Comparisons

There are literally hundreds of mechanical keyboards on the market. Unlike the rest, ANAVI Macro Pad 8 is entirely open source, affordable, compact, highly customizable and suitable for a wide range of applications. The developer kit is super easy to assemble and requires no soldering!

Manufacturing Plan

To ensure consistently high quality, the printed circuit board (PCB) of ANAVI Macro Pad 8 has a green solder mask and a gold surface finish. All PCBs will be manufactured and assembled at a local factory in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, EU. Boards will be carefully manually flashed and tested with the open source QMK firmware.

Shipping & Fulfillment

All ANAVI Macro Pad 8 kits will be shipped to our backers using Crowd Supply’s fulfillment services. Once manufacturing is complete, we’ll make a bulk shipment to Crowd Supply and from there, the packages will be shipped out to our individual backers. For more details, please have a look at this guide to ordering, paying, and shipping.

Risks & Challenges

ANAVI Macro Pad 8 is a certified open source hardware product. After months of development we have a stable version. We have already manufactured a small-run batch to ensure that everything works correctly and we are ready for mass production!

We have experience successfully delivering projects on time, and even ahead of schedule, from our previous crowdfunding campaigns, including ANAVI Thermometer, ANAVI Gas Detector, ANAVI Infrared pHAT and many more. We are working with reliable suppliers and a trusted local factory in Plovdiv, Bulgaria to ensure high quality at reasonable price. However, now, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we are facing completely new challenges. Suppliers and factories are working with reduced capacity, therefore, we have set estimated shipping dates far out in the future. In case of a complete inability to deliver, or with some kind of shipping failure, backers will be offered full refunds. If any delays occur, backers will be notified promptly through regular updates.

Support & Documentation
