A New Shipment of Slimes Is on the Way!

The latest shipment of trackers has triumphantly departed our headquarters and has begun its journey to Mouser & Crowd Supply for fulfillment. It’s on it’s way to the US, and is slated to arrive to the Mouser’s warehouse around December 18th. It’s a large shipment during a really busy time of year for shipping, so please be patient as orders ship out.
This shipment is our 15th major shipment, and contains over 3,500 SlimeVR sets and upgrade kits for customer orders plus an additional surplus of over 1,800 sets which will be available to buy as soon as they arrive to Mouser! That is a huge amount of Slimes, and we aren’t stopping there.
Next Shipment
Shipment 15.1 is already being prepared for shipping, which will contain over 1,000 additional sets and upgrade kits. Huge news for those that have been waiting patiently for their order, and also those who want to order in-stock sets.
Butterfly News
In other news, our first ever Butterfly tracker newsletter update was published a few weeks ago. Ecosystem News
Server
Our server software has been undergoing massive renovations recently. First was v0.17.0 that release recently, which had over 30 additions and bugfixes, including:
- Firmware updater 2.0 - Way more reliable, with custom JSON loading for pre-defined tracker settings.
- Positional tracker support - IK (Inverse Kinematics) has finally joined the party, after 2 years of being in beta. This makes mixing positional trackers (like Vive) with SlimeVR trackers a viable option.
- UI Tweaks and fixes - A multitude of minor UI quirks were fiddled with, such as padding, text wrapping, more verbose errors, and my favourite; a serial input in the console page.
- Bug fixes - Lots of minor fixes, tweaks, and version bumps. Notable additions are fixes for the IMU calibration tutorial, and measures preventing soft-locks from specific OSC settings.
Hot on its heels is our huge upcoming update, 0.18.0, which majorly overhauls the user experience and UI. This long-awaited patch is our pride and joy, and features an entirely new Tracking Checklist feature, as well as an overhauled Automatic body proportions system and a whole slew of other changes.
The Tracking Checklist is aimed at removing a lot of the guess work involved in getting SlimeVR trackers set up for use each session. It adds a dynamic panel that advises the user what their next step should be, and it’s smart enough to not tell you steps you have already done or don’t need to do.
Side-Slime
SlimeVR is now on Sidequest! If you have been wanting to have the SlimeVR server on your Meta headset but was accidentally forced to auto-update, well now you can install our server using sidequest. Special thanks to Meta for so kindly patching out all the ways people can install apps on the hardware they bought. Really doing a good job there protecting your customers from the evils of the world. /s
