Available for pre-order
View Purchasing OptionsHey Slimes! Since the last update, we have shipped quite a few more sets of SlimeVR trackers, and even briefly had some of the sets in stock. In fact, you can still order Deluxe Tracker Sets from stock and receive them in just a few days! All other orders will have to wait the next shipment.
As you might have heard, the world is going though a bit of madness with international trade. It affects every business and manufacturer, including us, as well as every other project on Crowd Supply. SlimeVR is made in Europe, so our current tariffs on import to the USA are "only" 10%, but it’s still a significant change for a product that tries to be affordable.
We’re working with Crowd Supply and Mouser to ensure that the price of SlimeVR stays as close as possible to what it is currently. This is still a work in progress, and we will keep you updated if anything changes. At the very least, we can confidently say that despite the fact that Mouser - our distributor - is in the USA, the tariffs will not affect customers outside of the USA.
Starting from June 2025, SlimeVR Tracker hardware will be updated to version 1.2. For some sets, the version 1.1 is still available for purchase while stock lasts, with v1.1 shipping in May or from immediate stock. For the rest of the sets, only v1.2 is available, and we’ve had to move some of the current orders to the new version. Continue reading to learn about the differences!
All versions of SlimeVR trackers are compatible with each other! SlimeVR server supports working with all versions of SlimeVR at the same time, including third-party products and mobile apps. Extensions from old or new version can work with either versions of the main trackers, so any upgrades you purchase are compatible with your existing hardware (old trackers might need to be updated to the firmware version 0.6+ to use new extensions).
SlimeVR v1.0 and v1.1 featured the BNO085 IMU, which is a great chip made by CEVA that contains a lot of math magic to reduce drift, but is very expensive, extremely closed source (it runs a proprietary fusion algorithm on board), hard to optimize, consumes a lot of power, and is generally quite old with outdated characteristics. CEVA’s magic fusion makes it very good for our use case though, so it’s still a great IMU to use. It has magnetometer on board.
SlimeVR v1.2 uses the ICM-45686 IMU made by TDK, as well as QMC6309 magnetometer. It’s a way newer chip with way better characteristics than the BNO, but without a good fusion algorithm. Thankfully, since the start of our campaign, progress has marched forward. Thanks especially to VQF along with the great work of our community tuning and integrating in our ecosystem, SlimeVR trackers can now have their own fusion algorithm on the microcontroller that’s comparable with CEVA’s BNO085. In addition, since it’s a fully open-source algorithm, we can tune it to our use cases, further reducing drift.
For all trackers starting from batches produced in 2025, we’re also using a new 1350 mAh battery instead of a 1200 mAh battery, mainly due to a better fit in the enclosure. As a result of these changes, SlimeVR v1.2 can bolster up to 20 hours of play time on one charge!
Because the ICM-45686+QMC6309 combo is quite a bit cheaper than the BNO085, we have lowered our prices! Instead of $195 USD for Lower-Body Set (5+0), we’re charging $185 USD, and all other sets get a bump too: extension hip trackers have been upgraded to full trackers, so the Core Set is now 6+0 instead of 5+1, the Enhanced Core Set is 6+2 instead of 5+3, and so on. Hip extensions were a big pain point for our users throughout the years with discomfort created by the extension cable, the cable constantly breaking, and the narrow strap being less comfortable, so we’re finally getting rid of it.
If you currently have an open order, either it has remained unchanged and will ship as soon as the next batch of version 1.1 sets arrives at the warehouse in a few weeks, or it has been updated to a version 1.2 set and will ship in a few months. In the case of Lower-Body Sets, orders updated to version 1.2 have been given a refund of $10 (plus tax as appropriate). All updates to orders have already been completed, so you can log into your Crowd Supply account and check the status of your order. Orders that have been updated to version 1.2 will have two line items on them - a canceled line item for what was originally ordered and a pending line item for the equivalent version 1.2 set. If you would like to change your order for some reason, please reach out to Crowd Supply.
Another cool update is that SlimeVR Server v0.14.0 is out! So if you already have SlimeVR, don’t forget to update. It has a bunch of bug fixes, firmware update, new proportions system, magnetometer toggle, improved tracking, and improved UX. The next version is already in Release Candidate, too!
