Thanks to Microchip ATmega32U4, ANAVI Macro Pad 8 connects to the USB of your personal computer, drives the mini OLED display through I2C and has more than enough general-purpose input/output (GPIO) pins for the mechanical switches. Learn all about it in this update!

Out of the box, all kits of ANAVI Macro Pad 8 are powered by the popular open source QMK firmware. Although QMK is very powerful and flexible, it might be a challenge to get used to it if you haven't used it before. Over the next weeks and months, as part of efforts for increasing the documentation related to ANAVI Macro Pad 8, we will be rolling out updates related to QMK.

Out of the box ANAVI Macro Pad 8 comes with the popular open source Quantum Mechanical Keyboard (QMK) firmware. In a previous tutorial we covered it in more details and we had a look at the existing keymaps. Recently, we added a brand new keymap for ANAVI Macro Pad 8 for Git users.

The local factory in Plovdiv, Bulgaria is back from summer vacation and have finished the 2nd batch of printed circuit boards for ANAVI Fume Extractor. In the mean time, we launched a new crowdfunding campaign for a completely different open source hardware product you might be interested in: ANAVI Macro Pad 8.

Out of the box, all ANAVI Macro Pad 2 kits are powered by the popular, open source QMK firmware—the same firmware, not coincidentally, that we use for our Macro Pad 8. This update describes some of the other firmware that already exists, or that's in the works, for ANAVI Macro Pad 2.

ANAVI Macro Pad 8 is entirely open source product certified by the Open Source Hardware Association (OSHWA) with UID BG000072. Does it make any sense to make open source hardware with expensive proprietary software tools? Of course not! ANAVI Macro Pad 8, just like our other open source hardware products, was designed with free and open source tools such as KiCad and OpenSCAD. All schematics and resources for the hardware are available at GitHub under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International. It is powered by the open source QMK Firmware available in GitHub under GNU General Public License v2.0. Let's have a closer look at all these open source tools!
