Video & Cameras
The 5MP GS Pi Camera is a high-performance imaging solution designed to overcome the primary limitation of standard Raspberry Pi cameras: the "jello effect." By utilizing a premium global shutter sensor, this camera captures every pixel of an image simultaneously. This makes it a critical tool for developers and hobbyists working on high-speed projects where motion blur or geometric distortion from a rolling shutter would otherwise compromise data integrity and visual quality.
Traditional rolling shutter cameras scan an image line by line, which leads to skewed or "wobbly" images when capturing fast-moving objects like drone propellers or racing vehicles. The 5MP GS Pi Camera uses the OmniVision OX05B1S sensor to freeze action instantly. Whether you are performing high-speed industrial inspection or capturing wildlife in rapid motion, the global shutter ensures that every frame is a geometrically accurate representation of the scene.
High-resolution video processing can often bottleneck a Raspberry Pi’s CPU. To address this, Waves Vision has developed custom decoders that leverage hardware optimizations to deliver smooth 60 fps RGB video. By offloading the heavy lifting of image decoding, your Pi’s processor utilisaion remains low to run complex algorithms, navigation stacks, or data logging software, making this the ideal camera for resource-intensive edge computing applications.
Achieving the perfect focus shouldn’t require manual hardware adjustments in hard-to-reach installations. The 5MP GS Pi Camera features an integrated motorized focus system that can be controlled via simple scripts or I2C commands. With planned support for libcamera, users will be able to implement advanced features like software-driven autofocus, allowing the camera to adapt dynamically to changing environments without human intervention.
While other solutions exist for evaluating the OX05B1S sensor, they are often overpriced and designed for lab benches rather than real-world projects. Our camera is built for integration.

Waves Vision is committed to the open-source community. All critical software and hardware documentation is available to ensure a seamless integration:
The 5MP GS Pi Camera is developed by Waves Vision Ltd., based in Bulgaria. We have established relationships with reliable PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) manufacturers and lens suppliers. The manufacturing process involves precision SMT assembly of the OmniVision sensor followed by the mounting of the motorized lens assembly. Each unit will undergo a rigorous automated testing routine to calibrate the focus motor and verify sensor integrity before packaging.
Once manufacturing is complete and quality control is verified, all units will be shipped in bulk to Crowd Supply. You can learn more about Crowd Supply’s fulfillment service under Ordering, Paying, and Shipping in their guide.
Because the design is finalized, the drivers are written, and the prototypes have been fully verified, the traditional risks of "feature creep" or hardware redesign are non-existent. Our only remaining challenge is securing the funding required for a full-scale production run.
Produced by Waves Vision Ltd. in Ruse, Bulgaria.
Sold and shipped by Crowd Supply.
