Learn how to avoid a dead car battery using WiCAN and Home Assistant integration

We've been in Taiwan for over a week: the new 1.7 Micro Desktop PCBs arrived and are fine, the casework is underway (a cheap-and-cheerful 3D printer sourced), Laptop PCB1 can go for prototyping, and fun and games with NAND Flash on the A20.

Project Update · Hacking ScopeFun
0.060
Because ScopeFun is completely open source, users can modify it or add new features simply by editing the source code. To show how easy it is to customize ScopeFun, we have created a short tutorial in which we implement a filter inside the FPGA to average digital samples coming from the onboard AD converter. As we discussed in our previous update, this filter has the effect of reducing noise in the captured signal.

Project Update · Pilot run success and what’s next
0.060
TL;DR: The first 50 UHKs and palm rests of the pilot run were delivered, and according to the feedback we received it was a huge success! The recipients of the pilot run gave us a ton of feedback, so we’ll go over the issues they encountered, and tell you how we’ll fix them in upcoming batches. We’re raising the price of the palm rest to $55, and we’ll raise the rest of the items by 10% soon. We plan to deliver the remaining 1,950 UHKs of the first batch from February to April. We’re putting an increasingly heavy emphasis on finalizing and manufacturing the add-ons.

Project Update · Manufacturing Update

In the previous update, we noted how COVID lockdown in Shenzhen had halted our manufacturing. We're happy to now say that lockdowns in the Shenzhen area have eased, and manufacturing is back in progress. There is still the risk that lockdowns could come back at any time, but for now we are able to continue making manufacturing progress.

An open-source, multi-parameter, full fledged human body vital sign monitoring HAT for Raspberry Pi as well as standalone use.

We wrote a small, open source library, called SSD1306xLED, for the ATtiny85 microcontroller to work with SSD1306-powered OLED displays. Here are some details and images of the results.

This update covers the basics of how motor performance is influenced by the current and/or voltage of a power supply. We also take a look at how micro-stepping works. Read the full update for all the details.

Rise time is generally defined as the time taken to go from 10% to 90% of a commanded value. In propulsion systems, the most relevant measurement is the rise time of thrust. In our tests we measure the rise time of the thrust from 1 N to 4 N because most drones using 2306-sized motors will have a hovering thrust in this range.
