Project Update · Thank You and Some News

Thank you to all those who have supported HeartyPatch over last almost 3 years. We are writing this update with mixed feelings as we transition from the original HeartyPatch project launched in mid-2017 to the production of a commercial, medical-grade wearable device for Cardiac monitoring and Cardiac care. As of now. This means that we will not be selling HeartyPatch through Crowd Supply and all other channels, as we transfer the HeartyPatch design to Patch Inc., a cardiac monitoring start-up based in Cambridge, MA, USA. This was done for a couple of reasons, as we'll explain in this update.

Multi-sensor data acquisition, processing, and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth communication in a single, open source board. Sense anything.

As part of accumulating data for Sensything applications we have been tinkering with a lot of unique sensors. Among the experiments we have done, we would like to showcase an interesting sensor - the SparkFun VR IMU Breakout - BNO080 (Qwiic).

Project Update · The Promise of Citizen Science
0.010
Citizen science is an ever-evolving and dynamic concept. With its advent, scientific research was not confined to state of the art laboratories. Even a person with no scientific background could pitch in to conduct meaningful research that has an effect on our common welfare. It's this sense of “collective participation” that will set the milestones for a green environment.

Project Update · What is 24-bit Acquisition Anyway?

We had a good first 3 days of launch, even getting some customer feedback already, which we have incorporated into the campaign. We have added two new pledge levels.

To deliver the best video quality possible, we overcame many obstacles to ensure that LeafKVM can smoothly stream video as high as 60 Mbps. Getting the color range right was another critical challenge. This update explores both efforts.

Project Update · Incandescent Bulb Test!
0.010
The M10 board uses AP3429A as the switching regulator to convert 5 V input to 3.3 V. And the 5 V rail can come from the DC, which is converted from 9 V to 5 V by an AZ1117IH (LDO). The AZ1117IH has a current limit of 1 A, while the AP3429A has a current limit of 2 A. In other words, the M10 board can produce a lot of juice even on its 3.3 V rail. To visually verify that, incandescent bulbs are used as power indicator.
